Christmas in Cologne

Cologne Germany is one of the best places in the world to visit for Christmas markets.  We’ve been told this by numerous people, so we of course had to see it for ourselves.  It did not disappoint.  I’ve never seen so many twinkling lights in one place.  We had the most amazing German food and drinks.  One of our favorite foods was these fried potato cakes dipped in applesauce, random and delicious!!

I took German in high school, and even though I don’t remember much of the language, I was so excited to speak some of what I know.  I have always wanted to go to Germany since studying about the language and culture in high school.  The whole time we were here, I felt like a child living out my Christmas dreams and I wanted my friends and family to see what I was seeing.  What makes Cologne so special is that there are numerous Christmas markets around the city.  We went to three different ones, each were unique in their own way.
